These days, we thank CCTV cameras for providing us real-time updates of just about anything.
From car dash cams to home security cameras, they offer us the security we need, as well as serve as vital evidence if need be.
Thankfully, this couple’s nanny cam proved very beneficial when they witnessed firsthand the abuse of their son from his babysitter.
KAMI followed this story on Unilad.
Dyana Ko was horrified when she caught the moment her babysitter abused their two-year-old boy.
Dyana and her husband, Chris, were at their other son’s basketball game when they decided to check up on son Landon thru their nanny cam app. They were very stunned when they saw Thelma Manalastas hitting the child.
The video showed Thelma going deaf on the baby’s cries, ignoring him completely as he was screaming, and then later on rolling up a magazine and using it to slap the kid a few times.
Landon suffers from Rubinstein-Taybi Syndrome. The child is said to be blind on one eye, completely fed on tube, and unable to speak.
As Dyana puts it:
"I told the other moms. I said I think I see my special needs baby being abused. I think I’m going to pass out."
"My husband was in the parking lot, moving the car at the time. I told them if I passed out look at the video because this is what I see going on."
Husband and wife immediately called 911 and police went over to their house to arrest Thelma. Her employer, Maxim Healthcare Services are conducting investigation on the incident, and they have since ‘terminated’ Thelma’s employment following her arrest.
An official statement released by Maxim partly read:
"...we have notified the California Board of Nursing and will continue to fully cooperate with the authorities as they investigate this matter."
However, Dyana and Chris have made up their minds on filing a lawsuit against both Thelma Manalastas and Maxim Healthcare Services.

KAMI wishes to remind parents to always be vigilant with their kids. Be careful who you entrust your children to, especially young ones. It's difficult to trust these days, and kids with special needs suffer the most in cases of abuse.
