The Tower of London is famous as the last place that the princes were seen in 1483. When their father died the older prince, Edward was due to take the throne but as he was only a boy his uncle was to be his guardian. At the time Edward was 12 and his brother Richard was 9 years old. Their uncle usurped the throne and became King Richard III very soon after imprisoning the princes in the tower. He claimed that they were being held there for their safety.
It has never been proved that he had them killed but the many rumours going around say that he (or his men) smothered them while they slept.
In 1674 workmen working at the Tower of London dug up a box that held the remains of two children. It was presumed that the bodies were probably those of the princes. They were reburied at Westminster Abbey.
Since the disappearance of the children many people have sworn that they have seen the ghost of the older prince walking on the ramparts of the tower – restless because his kingdom was stolen from him.
In the attached picture people claim that they can see the ghost of the prince.
