Over a month now, since insurgents waged war in the land of Marawi, destroying properties and claiming lives -- all in their belief of fighting for a higher cause. A cause, which many of us will never be able to truly and fully fathom.
Over a month now, since our government troops have been sent out to be our front-runners in this fight against rebels. Our armies who stoically left behind their families, with the uncertainty of making it back home. They fear for their lives too, they just do not show it. And even now, still more of our soldiers are being drafted to the war-torn area to continue the ongoing battle.
Islamic State's presence in the country has raised alarm, as the international terror group is believed to be establishing a foothold in Southeast Asia.
While the rest of the country continue to live life as normal as possible, in Marawi, it’s far from over.
Our Armed Forces and the local militia terror group still clash day and night, civilians are displaced in different evacuation sites, some are still being held hostages, and more lives are taken by the day.
It’s been over a month now, and as we take a look into what’s become of Marawi since, may we all be reminded that we are all fighters in this war against rebellion and terrorism that besiege and beleaguer our country.
That even if the Maute forces will soon be neutralized in the days, weeks, or months to come, we are all left victims scarred with the destruction the Marawi siege will leave behind.
