Hackers are group of people who uses computers to gain access to unauthorized data. In today’s world, a lot of techniques on how hacking can be done in different ways.
KAMI learned from Week in Weird how headphones can now be used as a way to hack unauthorized data by converting it into a surveillance microphone.
According to Ben Gurion researchers “It is possible to manipulate the headphones or even earphones connected to a computer, silently turning them into a pair of eavesdropping microphones – with software alone.. the same is also true for some types of loudspeakers.”
With this, the group submitted a research paper that focuses on an attack scenario in which malware can use a computer as an eavesdropping device, even when a microphone is not present, muted, taped, or turned off.
KAMI wants to remind everyone to be careful with how we secure our personal data. Any signs of unauthorized hacking must be reported immediately at the appropriate law enforcement investigative authorities.
