On June 25, 1998, A burning building trapped a five year old girl named Josibel Aponte. Her uncle died in the fire and she almost died as well.

Luckily, Peter Getz, a cop, saved her from that terrible fate. A fire fighter was able to get Josibel out of the building, but she was not breathing that time and she was about to die.

She was given to Getz and realized her situation. He then gave her CPR at the back of a police car.Thankfully, by the time they pulled up, his young patient was breathing normally again.

19 years later, Josible searched for the cop who saved her life and future. She was able to find him and she invited him to attend to the most important day of her life, her graduation. She wanted to thank him for saving her life. She also believes that if it wasn't for him. she would not be even alive right now.

In an interview with Josibel. She said, “There are only a few moments that are so important in life. I wanted to share my graduation with everyone who’s important to me, who have been there for me, and who helped me through tough times. I almost died, but I was given a second chance at life, and it was because of Peter and all the authorities, everyone who came to help that day.”

Getz say that he cannot forget the experience and he has always thought of Josibel even after the incident.

He said: “It’s one of those things that touches your heart and stays with you.

“It’s a situation that we could control, that we could foresee the outcome of. The firemen did their job, I did my job, and the hospital staff did their job. As a result, we still have a beautiful young woman still on the face of the Earth.”

A simple deed can change a person's life forever. We should be thankful of our heroes.
