"Today God helped me realize my dream," says 112-year-old Ahmed Muhamed Dore, after he exchanged vows with his newest wife, 17-year-old Safia Abdulleh.
According to reports spotted by Kami.com.ph, this wedding which took place in Guriceel, in the Galguduud region of Somalia, could have been a normal wedding, except that it was believed to be the first of its kind in Somali history for over a century.
What made this wedding unique is the fact that the bride and the groom has a 95-year-old age gap, with the groom being on his sixth marriage.
He also already had five wives, and three of which had already died.
According to BBC News, the 17-year-old bride is "happy with her new husband" who claims that he did not use force to get married.
In his statements, Ahmed said that he had waited for Safia to grow up before he proposed. He said, "I didn't force her, but used my experience to convince her of my love; and then we agreed to marry."
Although Ahmed has already sired 18 children and around 90 grandchildren, he says he hopes his new bride will give him more children.
"It is a blessing to have someone you love to take care of you," he claimed.
