Administration standard-bearer Mar Roxas assures his constituents that he would dedicate the creation of Samar Island Region as soon as he wins the 2016 presidential elections.
Roxas sortie was at the province of Negros Ocidental, Kabankalan, La Carlotta, Cadiz and Bacolod last Tuesday (April 26) for his various campaigns.
In a press conference at La Carlota City, Mar said “he would continue to support Negros Island Region, as it brought economic gains for the two Negros provinces.”
P’Noy signed Executive Order 183 in May 2015, creating the Negros Island Region or Region 18. Mar added that the creation of the NIR has helped in the progress and development of Negros.
(At this time, the natives of Samar appeal for a Samar Region. They lament that the length of travel from San Juanico Strait to proceed to Tacloban just to follow up and process their documents. It is one of the reason why one of the poorest region... is also the poorest Island in the country. Samar Island is consisted of Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, and Western Samar)."
He adds the creation of the new region had been suggested to him and takes it up as a challenge.
(I accept this endeavour as part of the platform for the Straight Path. The creation of Samar Island Region will focus on the region. Just like the case of Negros, when it comes to the work of the Regional Development Council, the Regional Peace and Order Council, and other cross-border agencies between provinces)," he expounded further.
