Twins John and Ray Cilot were only nine years old when they learned how to dig the clay soil in one of the mountains in Albay to sell to their neighbors who are making clay pots.
They are 14 now, but their built are similar to the frail bodies of 10-year-olds. However, they are strong enough to collect and bring down six sacks of soil from the mountain.
Despite their young age, they are already the breadwinners of the family supporting their parents and two siblings. Their mother has a defect on her left eye and their father is limping as his right leg is defective from a young age.
During KAMI.com.ph's visit to the twins home in Tiwi, Albay, we can feel the deep love and concern of the twins to their parents. They do not speak much but they follow their parents' every word.
"Kapag walang pasok, umaga’t hapon naghuhukay ang kambal. Pag may pasok, sa hapon lang pagkagaling sa eskuwela," their mother Ana said. She wished that despite their status, her kids will finish school and will have great lives ahead of them.
