Kapamilya stars Gerald Anderson, Jake Cuenca, and Coleen Garcia are some of the celebrities that took part in JCI Manila's first fun run for a cause.
KAMI.com.ph also spotted other celebrities present in the event are Kuya Kim Atienza who led the prayer and Bubbles Paraiso that facilitated the first part of the raffle. Beneficiaries of the event, children from Smokey Mountain and indigenous tribes of Aetas and Igorots, open the race. The fun run has 10K, 5K, and 3K categories.
According to JCI Manila's commissioner Chris Liao, he is happy with the turn out as an estimate of 1,500 to 2,000 runners joined and supported the event that benefits the kids from Smokey Mountain and the indigenous people in the country.
Runners are treated will gift bags and freebies. At the end of the race, JCI Manila gave away iPad Minis and Apple iWatch to lucky participants.
Meanwhile, sponsors and partners poured in and supported the cause. One of the partners in the event is the social enterprise Kandama that aims to put up a weaving center in Julongan village in Ifugao to provide livelihood to the women of the province while preserving the dying art of weaving.
Since 1947, JCI Manila trains its members to become great leaders by being active in the community. Apart from the aforementioned beneficiaries of this event, JCI Manila empowers cimmunities through their various outreach programs.
