In some countries around the world, child marriages have been considered ‘legal’. There are children as young as 9 already tying the knot with, most often, seemingly older partners.
Not only is this socially frowned-upon due to its moral aspects, because most, if not all, cases are usually forced - this is also seen as a deprivation of children’s rights to experience childhood itself.
Young as they are, they are already stripped off of their basic rights to play, to have fun and enjoy, to go to school.

KAMI went over to check this viral video uploaded by Coby Persin on his YouTube channel.
This is a social experiment where a young girl at 12 years old was about to marry a 65-year-old man.
The setting was in a public plaza in New York where hundreds of people were busily going about their day.
It was made to look like the young “bride”, wearing her full wedding ensemble of gown and veil, was really sad.
Random people and passers-by, out of sheer concern, went up to the “couple” and told the man that what he was doing was very wrong, it was “illegal”.
One of them even offered to take the girl to the right authorities.
As with social experiments, we always hope to come out informative - opening society's eyes to the current taboos that are slowly becoming reality, and at the very least, ignite a strong response from unaware respondents of the society to take a step towards restoring humanity.
This powerful message should leave an impact:
“Every day 33,000 girls are married as children, denied their rights to education and opportunity, and robbed of their childhood. No child should have to go through this."
