“Yung past will always be a big thing sa mga tao, especially sa mga Filipino.

“We always look sa past and, let’s be honest, mga judgmental talaga mga Filipino.

“But importante naman is, yun nga, as long as she’s down to earth, mabait siya, respectful sa parents ko, close siya sa mga kaibigan ko at tanggap siya ng family ko, yun naman importante.

“So I don’t really dwell on the people who talk bad about her and sa akin.

“It’s more of, like, not even an issue anymore.

“So it’s hard. Medyo kakaiba. Yun nga, adjustment.

“But then, I don’t really look into all the negative stuff.

“Mas importante na we’re happy.”

Jose says: “I kinda had that impression na when I started going out with her.

“Nung una, hindi muna big deal sa akin.

“If I ever heard something bad or something was said, something was put in writing sa column, whatever, hindi ko ginagawang big deal masyado.

“Tina-try ko na i-avoid, huwag ko na basahin.

“Now, it kinda prepared me for the bigger news that came out, now that we’re together.

“So, hindi na ako ganun nabulaga. But it’s still, as I said, overwhelming.

“But then, it’s something that I can always, like, ‘Oh, narinig ko na ‘yan, e. Okay, sige.’

“More mga kung ano-ano sinasabi, pero it’s not really for me to dwell on it.

“As they say, it is what it is na, e. Yun na yun, e. Wala na tayo magagawa.

“Why would we bring back the past, kung ano man yung past niya?

“Importante naman is kung ano kami ngayon.

“So I don’t really dwell too much sa mga past, sa mga comments ng mga tao.

“I don’t read the comments, e, kasi useless naman. Hindi ko naman kilala ‘tong mga tao na ‘to.

“So no need to give it enough thought, na parang, ‘Ano kayang gagawin ko? Shall I reply back? Shall I say something back?’

“I don’t know naman these people, so not really a big factor naman sa akin.”

“Well, I won’t say na lang what they said, but I’ve been getting a lot of hate mails, mga bastos and rude comments.

“I don’t read anymore the comments sa mga write-up sa Facebook. I gave up.

“I’m not gonna fight with someone who’s commenting behind the computer, I don’t even know living in some province.

“I don’t have to dwell on those things.

“But then, yung mga iba nagda-direct message sa Instagram…

“Kasi public pa yung Instagram ko, e. Minsan lumalabas sa feed ko, parang obligado ka mabasa mo mga sinasabi nila, e.

“Some are bastos talaga.

“Surprisingly, the bastos people and the rude people ay yung mga galing pa sa ibang bansa.”

“The Filipinos, actually medyo supportive.

“Medyo baduy pero, ‘Wow! Taas mo yung bandila ng Pilipinas!’ Mga ganun!

“Nakakatawa, but ganun sinasabi nila.

“Yung mga Pinoy, very supportive.

“But yung ibang mga bansa, I won’t na lang name the country, kasi I have friends or family there, but may ibang mga bansa dun yung mga bastos na sinasabi na kung anu-anong mga bagay na hindi maganda.”

How well did he know Maria?

“Siyempre, we all know naman talaga she’s very well known.

“Yeah, I knew who she was naman. Siyempre, in that industry,”

“And then she also became a regular actress now sa Indonesia, sa Japan.

“Gumagawa siya ng mga regular movies and she does modelling na din. Talagang well-known talaga siya.

“But I didn’t really make it a factor naman sa akin, na porke’t super-sikat siya, or kung ano yung past niya, gusto ko siya ligawan.

“It’s just, basically, if you get on with someone…”

Jose knows some people would think she would just ride with Maria's popularity.

“Oo, yun yung parang hinahabol ko daw, kasi sikat siya or something.

“I’ve been single for a long time, talagang you know for a fact when you meet someone na hindi ko naman ide-date to, dahil sikat siya or maganda siya or may following siya.

“I don’t really believe in those things talaga, e. Hindi naman talaga ako ma-showbiz.

“Kung happy lang ako with her and she makes me happy, yun naman importante.

“I don’t really think about yung dahil sikat siya.

“Hindi naman issue sa akin yun.”

Maria always says, “I want to find a Filipino boyfriend.”

And now Maria found that “Filipino boyfriend” in Jose.

Because of this, many men envy him.

Jose says “Well, she found a Filipino guy. Happy naman ako naging kami.

“I put everything into perspective, e.

“I don’t really think na inggit yung mga tao, pantasya ng tao, ng mga lalaki.

“It’s more of me lang just being happy how we are now.

“I don’t, as I said, dwell sa mga comments mga naiisip ng tao.

“I don’t really wanna think when people are saying ‘Maria Ozawa, wow! Lupit! Iba ‘yan! International actress 'yan!’

“I usually block out everything. Hindi ko na talaga iniisip mga ganung bagay, e.

“For me, basta happy ako, she’s happy with me, that’s really what I think.

“I don’t really give too much thought sa mga sinasabi ng tao na ‘Lupit mo!’

“Hindi ko pagkatao yun. Happy lang ako.”
