Paradoxically, Sto. Tomas, Pangasinan offered a warm and gracious welcome to Sen. Grace Poe as her motorcade swept from town to town on Monday, as opposed to the province’s zero votes and support to the Senator’s adoptive father, the late Fernando Poe Jr. during the presidential elections on 2004.
Sen. Grace Poe, who proudly takes up the title of “Pangasinense” due to her family ties with FPJ’s late father, Fernando Poe Sr., who hails from Brgy. Caoayan Kiling, San Carlos City, Pangasinan, was greeted favorably by the province’s locals as they lined the streets and boiled and offered corn to the Senator and her convoy en route to Rosales town.
The Senator then makes bold assurances in a rally in the town of Malasiqui that she will raise the tourism and economic growth of Pangasinan to new heights by resuming the construction of an airport in Alaminos City if she gets elected.
“Pangasinan has more population and it is located in the middle of many tourist attractions,” she said.
Though Sen. Poe is, in fact, adopted, she went to great lengths to assure the Filipino people that she is just as Filipino as everyone else in the country. She expressed her difficulties about the cases regarding her citizenship, while honoring her adoptive parents and voicing out that she has been enveloped by love from them. Though the DNA tests she underwent has matched with nothing thus far.
Sen. Poe also revealed her agendas to address hunger, poverty, health, education, and transportation among the many other conflicts in the country.
