When they were told what was special about their children, they could hardly hold back tears.
These two beautiful boys were born early at 30 weeks through a c-section, after mom Danielle Cooke suffered a monochorionic monoamniotic pregnancy.
After they were examined by a doctor, it was determined that the twins are literally mirror images of each other, because Lucas has some of his organs on the opposite side to where they're supposed to be, while Louis's organs are on the correct side!
This is a rare phenomenon, but it happens when the embryo splits approximately 7 days after conception. In Louis and Lucas's case, the embryo split after 10 days. 2 Days later, and the twins would have been conjoined.
The twins shared an amniotic sac in the womb, resulting in a very difficult pregnancy for their mom. The two were so close that their umbilical cords were actually entwined when they were born.
Dad Richie says it's wonderful watching the two little boys grow together, and amazing to see how close they are.
Lucas has a heart condition, but not one that should create a serious problem for the tot.
The boys have grown into healthy toddlers, and Danielle says they love playing football in the garden and dancing around with them.
