KAMI learned about this story of a foreigner and a Filipina.
A foreigner and a Filipina is commonly seen strolling at malls here in the country. One can see the age gap of these couples but what mattered to them is the love they have for each other. This kind of relationship is what David was looking for.
David is an American who lived in Philadelphia. He had everything he wanted in life. He has a stable job and a home. He felt lonely and found his way into Facebook. Here, he looked for a filipina who is friendly and kind.
He found Agatha in one of the groups on Facebook. They’re first conversation went like this.
David: Hi :)
Agatha: Hello, sir
David: So formal. Just call me David
Agatha: I’m Agatha. :D
David: I saw your post on Philippine Travel Guides group. Have you really gone to Palawan?
Agatha: Yeah, I did. Just last year.. Around summer time. The place was packed with people but still the place looked like paradise to me.
David: Wow! I wish I could go there.
Agatha: You could! If you have the $$$ haha
David: We’ll see. :D
Several weeks had passed and they continued to know each other. David felt something for her because of the kindness she has shown. He decided to court her even though they are afar. He ordered a bouquet of roses in the Philippines and shipped it to her house.
Upon the delivery, Agatha was shocked to receive such beautiful roses. All red and in full bloom roses resting in her arms. She skyped David and showed him the bouquet. Clearly, she was delighted. Seeing her face, David did not hesitate to say, “Will you be my girlfriend, Agatha?”
She was speechless for a second. Smiled and said, “Yes, of course. I want to be your girlfriend, David.”
From then on, not a single day passed that they don’t message each other.
One night, Agatha tells David about her family problems specifically, financial problems. Her father stopped working because of an injury in his legs. The meager salary of her mother supports their family now and it wasn’t enough. So Agatha asked David for money and so he gave some to her.
Days passed and David got worried for Agatha wasn’t chatting him anymore. He felt cheated and lied to for months that they’ve known each other. In the end, she’s a gold-digger who was just looking for a man to fund her needs.
No longer did David tried to contact her after she blocked him on Facebook. Now, he sees Filipinos as liars, robbers and a tagalog term called “PAASA.”
