Sadly, there are people who commit crimes just so they could give back to their loved ones.
Such was the case of M.C. Viterbo, a 37-year-old domestic worker in Hong Kong, who pleaded guilty to two charges of theft last April 12.
According to Hong Kong News, the items she stole - a Hello Kitty doll, a hair straightener, and a hair dryer - almost amounted to HK $1,800.
Her crime has also led her to be fired from her job immediately as she has been sentenced to four weeks in prison for each theft she committed.
However, Principal Magistrate Bina Chainrai suspended it for 18 months to see if she will not commit any crime within that period.
If she manages to behave during those months, her sentence will be lifted.
Viterbo started stealing the items from late last year until January, which was caught on CCTV.
In her defense, she said that she wanted to give the items to her teenage daughter.
The Pinay's case has reached court but posted a $1,000 bail now that it has been adjourned.
She continues to remain in Hong Kong, staying at an address provided by the Philippine Consulate General.
The world might not be easier to live in each day, but that doesn't mean we should give in to a life of crime just to get what we want.
