KAMI is impressed that Yael Yuzon was able to translate one of his band’s hit songs on the spot.
The Spongecola vocalist did so when he performed his English version of ‘Jeepney’ at an event last Tuesday, which you can view below.
They played at a smartphone launch, which he is an endorser of, in a popular mall's high-end portion.

Prior to his epic translation, Yael shared to the crowd that he was not allowed to speak in Filipino at the event.
Why so? According to Inquirer’s source, the mall’s management allegedly prohibited him from singing in Filipino because they were in the premium end of the establishment.
However, in a recent report from Rappler, the mall countered that they ‘do not disallow OPM’s without explicit lyrics’.
They also expressed concern on loud drums that might be bothersome to shoppers and tenants alike.
There might have been a miscommunication between both parties, but we think Yael did a spectacular job with his new take on ‘Jeepney’.
