Run! Run for your lives! They are here! The aliens have landed! Oh, no. Wait. It's just a dog.
In this AmoMama article, a couple who had been out driving spotted something mysterious in the road. What they had at first thought to be a garbage bag turned out to be a hairy dog.
It was a dark night. All around them it was still and silent. They had followed cautiously their headlights as it beamed eerily across the black tar as they drove.
Suddenly, something moved in the road ahead! It looked liked a garbage bag carried in the wind. But it looked alive. Garbage bags aren't alive.
What was it? What monstrous thing could it be?
The couple had brought their car to a careful stop and climbed out to face the monster.
It had awful hair, plaited or dreaded, or perhaps it was not hair at all. It moved like no other thing alive. It did not seem to walk, but rather to glide or to float.
"The dog could barely move before but now she could run and play."
But it was no monster! The poor thing was a scared and abandoned dog. They could not tell whether it was a boy or a girl.
They could not even tell what breed it was. Actually, they could not really tell if it was in fact a dog or not.
"I think we are drawn to dogs because they are the uninhibited creatures we might be if weren't certain we knew better." - George Bird Evans
They took the poor creature to a nearby vet and had it examined.
The vet had explained to them that the animal was around six to seven years old, and had probably not seen a brush in two years.
The animal had also been chipped, but the information on the chip was not linked to any addresses or phone numbers. The poor animal had no one.
Scared as the dog was was, it tricked them with its puppy eyes. It was not ready to go back into the cold and into the dark on its own.
These humans had shown kindness, and the dog was impressed. The dog wanted to go home with them.
The poor souls had been too weak to resist those puppy eyes and they folded under the pressure like paper. The couple had now become a family.
After several thorough washes and a decent haircut, it appeared the 'it' was actually a she, and she was very pretty.
The couple had named their new daughter Marley, after Bob Marley of course. What better, more fitting name could there be with all those dreads?

Marley is happy now in her new loving home, but is still somewhat anxious around strangers and in crowds. If you loved Marley's little story as much as we did, please share it.
