- As social media flourish, crowdfunding, especially for people in need of financial support has started to become more popular
- In fact, the easy dispersal of information facilitated by social media makes it an even more effective avenue for campaigns such as this
- It is perhaps due to this very reason that a netizen, who encountered this poor boy on the streets of Nueva Vizcaya, decided to ask for support via Facebook to help a young boy in need
In a post made by a netizen identified as Ron De Leon, he shared the story of a nine-year-old boy named Roel John Bacani.
According to Ron, it was during the Philippines' commemoration of the Holy Week when he saw the poor boy on the street.
With an intention to help him get up, he then realized that Roel did not merely trip as he originally thought, but that he really is unable to walk at all.
This heart-wrenching encounter had led Ron to make a Facebook post on April 10, asking for support to help the boy.
His post reads,
