- Spanish man went to Kawit, Cavite with one mission
- He seeks to apologize for his entire race for what they did
- Know the story of Johhny Barnreuther
As history has taught us, the Philippines was first colonized by the Spaniards. They conquered most parts of the Philippines for over 300 years.
This is why Filipinos are heavily ingrained with Spanish influences in the culture, food, language, and many more.
For most of the Filipinos back then, it was hell for them because of the things they changed and conditions they’ve brought our countrymen to. As of present time, however, one Spaniard wants to repent for all of these.
A man named Johnny Barnreuther went to Kawit, Cavite to meet with the leaders of that region. He went to the exact location where the Philippines “became an independent nation over 100 years ago.”
He seeks forgiveness for his ancestors’ wrongdoings to the Filipinos. He said in his post, “I asked for forgiveness for what we as a people have done to them in this historical place!!!”
In the photos, he is holding the Philippine flag as a powerful gesture of humility and gave it back to the region leaders while kneeling in front of them. As a Spaniard, he is representing his country for the “healing of nations.”
Many netizens from all over the world, not just Filipinos, were moved by this touching and important act.
