There's no question about the loyal character of dogs. After all, there's a very good reason why a dog is always referred to as "man's best friend".
This story is completely solid proof of that. If you befriend a dog, you're sure to have a friend to the end. Read on to know what happened to this faithful canine.
Elisa Lee of Lakewood, California, is a 17-year-old senior. She met Ralph the dog in the beginning of her last year at school. He lived in a house nearby her school and she passed there everyday going home.
Even when her friends encouraged her to try petting him, she was still a bit scared that he would bite her if he was overprotective of his territory.
After mustering up the courage however, Elisa was finally able to pet Ralph for the first time. He must have been craving for human contact because he got excited and began licking and pawing at the high schooler's hand.
They'd been the best of friends ever since.
After that day, it became a ritual for her to spend a few minutes bonding with Ralph before she went home. They have their own spot where they "meet" and continue their routine: Elisa pets Ralph and Ralph joyfully yelps and paws back.
Elisa only learned the dog's name after she saw him one time outside while his owner was walking him. She realized it was him from his pinkish-brownish nose and golden fur.
She again tried to gather enough courage to approach the older man and greet him, saying that she visited all the time to pet his golden retriever, then asked his name.
Ralph started to answer to Elisa when she called him. When she visited their spot and he wasn't there, all she had to do was call him and he would immediately bound over to meet her.
From the first day on, Elisa took to sharing their story on social media, where the reaction of the netizens toward the dog was adoring at least. Everyone wanted to pet and huge and boop him on the nose!
Elisa was surprised by the overwhelming response and had mixed feelings about everything. She was happy that so many people loved Ralph, but at the same time she was sad because she would be graduating soon.
Goodbyes don't always have to be sad. Let's continue to cheer on Elisa and Ralph and hope for the best for them. After all, true friendship, especially that between humans and animals, is always something to celebrate!
