If you were in a situation where you saw a malnourished dog with a chain around its neck, abandoned to freeze in the cold, you'd save it, correct?
This is exactly what a couple of animal lovers from Washington did. Unfortunately, the Humane Society of Tacoma brought her back to her abuser. Animal control is doing the investigation.
A neighbor who took pictures of Kiki, the dog, posted it on Facebook. Hence a small group of vigilantes took it among themselves to be her rescuer.
Although what they were going to do was violating the law, they knew if laws were not just, then they should do something about it.
They saw that the dog was clearly very hungry and in bad physical shape. So they decided to go there. This was according to Autumn Niesz-Ramos.
So 4 persons went inside the property of Steven Lee Jr. Kiki's owner is his dad. They saw Kiki chained to her dog house. This is not legal in Washington.
So they cut off her chain and took the dog.
Autumn says that Kiki couldn't stand up because she was not able to. She was shaking and very cold. The chain around her neck was on her skin. So, the group brought her to the vet.
Kiki was brought to the Humane Society. They unfortunately brought her back to her abusive owner since they were required to do so by the law (except if there is a warrant on the abuse).
Although the Humane Society wanted what was best for Kiki and Animal Control is investigating her case, they cannot deny bringing back a pet to his or her owner.
Autumn says that she didn't steal Kiki, but she saved her. Nevertheless, people should do what they possibly could by posting images and videos, speaking to owners, and the like.
