Here is what the author writes:
Share lang nako ning inspiring kaayo nga istorya aning bataa nga nachika namo gahapon sa glorious memorial park..
This is Markonie Dela Cruz (i hope I spelled his name right). A 19 yearl old, third year, BSED - major in Bio-Science, student of UM Tagum, Tagum Davao del Norte.
Samtang gabaktas ko padungs lubong ni mama, I could hear this kid singing and walking along with me in a distance. When I get to mama's grave and started wiping off some dirt, he approached me an ask, "Maam basin ganahan ka pahinloan, bisag pila lang gud imong hatag maam..". I was hesitant at first because we're in a hurry, pero kay bulingit naman gyud tuod ang lapida ni mama nisugot nalang ko.
Samtang nanguskos siyas mga tagiptip aksyon na kog pirat ky narealize nako murag dugay pa gyud diay mahuman ky gikudkud man gyud niyag pinahawd ang mga hugaw. So out of nowhere I just asked him if he is still in school. And to my surprise, he is indeed! Samot pa gyud kog kakurat kay college na diay sya (and still do such thing for a living). So kay naintriga naman kog maayo apil akong bana nga chismoso pud (well, my husband was a self supporting student himself that is why he got so much intrigued by this kid) gi interogate an gyud namo syag maayo. So as we continue to disturb him while he still does his job perfectly, we learn some heart warming information.
His parents are roaming all over the city everyday to sell some herbal products (haplas, capsule, tsaa ug uban pa) to meet their daily ends. He got two older siblings (didn't ask if they are male or female). The eldest is already married and the other one is working in a call center company who is also helping him in his school needs (which make me wonder why he has to do this "job"). So I asked him why is he here, didn't he knew about SPES? But I just got sad when he said that he applied already but was too late for the exam. He said he got busy during the finals and did not know that the exam was scheduled early. That is why he stays here the whole day hoping that someone will let them clean the lapida. (them because he got new recruits with him that he convinced to join him rather than stay at home or just roam around, and i'm already a fan because of that idea of his). Nanghambog pa gyud sya that he's been doing this "job" since his elementary days during All Souls Day. And just last November, he was able to raise P7,000.00 which saved his parents from the next sem's enrolment expenses! Nahurot gyud akong bilib!
My ged nanindog gyud akong balhibo when I took this pic. Before we got to the cemetery I bought flowers for mama. And since graduation season na arang kamahal sa mga bulak! Naglibog kos tag 50 ug tag 150 since I am in a tight budget ky pangtubil ra gyud akong extra. So ang tag 50 ra gyud akong napalit. But then I realize maybe it was mama who urged me to go for the tag-50 kay kahibaw syang naay mas karapat dapat sa akong 100, ky duol biya gyuds iyang dughan ning mga working student nga sama niya.
Maong dili gyud pwede nga dili nako ni ishare nga experience. For those who really wanted to have a better future, there is no reason for you to lose hope. Mao na gyud ni giingon ni Rico Blanco, KUNG AYAW MAY DAHILAN, KUNG GUSTO PALAGING MERONG PARAAN.
Dodong Markonie, taas akong respeto sa imong trabaho. Unta daghan pang kabataan ang mainspire nimo. Sa mga parehas ni Markonie, I salute y'all! Aim high, dream big! God will bless you!
Ug sa atong mga kinauukolan, sana po mabigyan ng pagkakataon ang mga katulad ng batang ito. Sila po ang higit na karapat dapat pagtuonan ng pansin.
Please, share this story. Facebook, we can change the life of this boy for better.
