- TV Patrol featured the story of an inspiring 63-year-old farmer in Bacolod City
- The elderly father carries his daughter on his back every day in order to bring her to school
- His daughter, who has a heart problem, dreams of becoming a teacher one day
Most fathers would do everything they could in order to get their children to a school. Hesus Cervantes of Bacolod City is one of those fathers.
KAMI learned his inspiring and heart-warming story from TV Patrol.
Hesus is a 63-year-old farmer whose daughter Lyka has a heart problem.
For this reason, the elderly father has to carry his daughter on his back and walk their way to the Fr. Gratian Murray AFSC Integrated School, crossing rough roads and rivers in the process.
Hesus is doing this in order to help Lyka – who is in Grade 5 – achieve her dream of becoming a teacher one day and help her family.
Her hardworking father earns around P100-300 in farming.
Hesus and Lyka’s story has touched many netizens.
“Naway matulungan ang pamilya na ito... nakakaawa sila pareho but hanga ako sa sipag at tiyaga ni tatay at ganun din sa pangarap ng anak niya,” a netizen posted.
(Hopefully, this family will get the help that they need. Although I feel bad for them, I also feel inspired by the father’s diligence and perseverance as well as his daughter’s dream!)
