In the Philippines, a ‘bilao’ is a circular multi-purpose item made out of woven rattan.
It’s being used to carry food, to separate rice husks, and even as a decor for most homes and restaurants.
The bilao is being sold in the Philippine market for less than a dollar but someone is selling it significantly higher than its original cost.
Jacob Walse-Dominguez shared a rather hilarious ad on an online shop. This ad was selling “Round Rattan Tray Boho Chic Wicker Tray Woven bamboo Bohemian Wall Hanging Rustic Decor,” which is just a really long name for ‘bilao.’
The name isn’t the most amusing thing but the price. They’re selling it for 38 US dollars! That is more or less around 1,900 pesos.
Another person confirmed it and here’s a photo to prove it:
So if you have any unused bilao lying around the house, you know what to do!
