In an unfortunate series of events, a Pinay balikbayan's trip home to bring home shoes and gifts for her newborn child were discovered stolen when she arrived in the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

In a report by GMA News, Maria Melencia Nabor found that the fabric in her luggage was forcibly torn and then held back together with tape for the carousel in the NAIA terminal two. After close inspection, some jewelry, shoes, and gifts for her child, 50k worth of valuables, were stolen.

She then proceeded to take a picture of the torn luggage and went to the front desk for help.

Airport authorities have said that the theft was likely at Hong Kong and advised her to call Philippine Airlines, the airline she rode.

PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna has said they have begun tracing back Nabor's luggage in their ground handling facility in Hong Kong via CCTV footage.

Manila International Airport Authority spokesperson David de Castro emphasized that the baggage of passengers is the primary responsibility of the airlines.
