Glaiza De Castro advocates safer cities for women

On Instagram, Glaiza De Castro promotes her advocacy for providing safer cities for women last Tuesday, April 26.

Glaiza De Castro is a talented actress and a great singer as well. She has recently been cast as ‘Pirena’ for the upcoming remake of GMA 7’s classic fantaserye “Encantadia.” That role is perfect for Glaiza because not only does she play a good villain, but also she is very passionate and fiery when it comes to her advocacies including women empowerment.

The actress posted a photo of UN Women’s #FreeFromFear brochure, which teaches women how to stop street harassment.

Thank you UN Women for spearheading this campaign and helping our city #FreeFromFear.” (A chance was given to talk with some women regarding their harassment experiences in some areas. The stories are alarming because besides the fact that they can’t do anything about it and they have no one to report the incident, these cases aren’t being solved with the appropriate punishment. That’s why these cases tend to repeat. Let’s think about the people close to us who may experience these, of course we won’t let this happen to them. There’s a law passed already about this and I hope that we can help each other to spread awareness about it. This is not only for women, but also for everyone who experienced, experiencing, and might experience this. Thank you UN Women for spearheading this campaign and helping our city #FreeFromFear.)

Glaiza added: “P.S. (P.S. I’m not running as a politician and I don’t intend to ever run for office. I believe that we don’t need a position to help. We all have the capability to help, it’s so nice to walk in the streets without fear that something might happen to you.)
