- Filipina-American Gaby Borromeo sang Leona Lewis’ “Happy” in her blind audition on “The Voice”
- Coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton turned their seats around for the Pinay singer
- She is already the second Filipina this season to have made it through the next round
Another Filipina has made her mark on “The Voice” USA this season, with Gaby Borromeo stunning coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton in her blind audition.
The young Filipina sang Leona Lewis’ emotional song entitled “Happy.”
She used a gentle and soothing approach at the beginning of the song. But when she finally got to the chorus, Gaby decided to let it all out and display the full power of her voice.
Adam and Blake turned their seats for Gaby but coaches Gwen Stefani and Alicia Keys held back.
After her performance, Adam decided to get off his seat, rush to the stage, and hug the Filipina singer.
Adam told Gaby that she sounded nervous at the start but that she improved as the song went on.
"But then as the song progressed, you came through in a way that just blew my mind. You're unbelievable and you belong on my team,” Adam said.
Both Adam and Blake said to Gaby that she has a big chance to win the entire competition. But in the end, the Fil-Am girl chose Adam as her coach.
In an earlier episode, another Filipina, Anatalia Villaranda, managed to get to the next round with Alicia Keys as her coach.
