Female cadets were definitely slaying the Philippine Military Academy class 2017 as a lady cadet topped this year's graduating batch.
Cadet First Class Rovi Mairel Martinez from Cabanatuan City slayed as she topped the class among 167 members of Sanggalang ay Lakas at Buhay Para sa Kalayaan Ng Inang Bayan (SALAKNIB).
Not only she was in the top 10 but seven other female cadets dominated the class:
C1C Eda Glis Marapao of Baguio City (3rd), C1C Cathleen Jovi Baybayan of The City of San Fernando in Pampanga (4th), C1C Shiela Joy Jallorina of Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya (5th), C1C Sheila Marie De Guzman of Manaoag, Pangasinan (7th), C1C Joyzy Funchica of Butuan City (8th), C1C Resie Jezreel Hucalla of Nabunturan, Compostela Valley (9th) and C1C Catherine Mar Gonzales of Zamboanga City (10th).
Meanwhile, two male cadets namely Philip Viscaya of Ligao City in Albay province (2nd) and C1C Emmanuel Canlas of Lubao, Pampanga (5th) made it to the top 10.
Martinez is the fourth female cadet to top a PMA class since 1997 according to LtGen Donato San Juan II.
