It only takes mere seconds for someone to smash your car windows and snatch your stuff off the seat. So just don’t keep your valuables in your car.
That’s the message behind a video apparently showing an internationally tried-and-true method of stealthy thieves. The tactic of using ‘ninja rocks,’ or broken shards of spark plugs to instantaneously break car windows, could be resurfacing in popularity in Indonesia.
The video, apparently posted by a Facebook user in Java then shared to Bali Facebook groups like Bali Crime Reports, shows footage of a man quickly breaking a car’s window and grabbing stuff from inside the car before dashing off.
Towards the end of a verison of the video posted by Twitter account @TwetPolisi, “langsung lari” (“running straight away”) can be heard, suggesting that the video (bear with us here) of the footage may have originated from within the country.
While we hope this isn’t really becoming a thing in Bali, best to play it safe and never leave valuables inside your vehicle when unattended!
