Cellphones, airconditioner, TV sets, aquariums and improvised weapons were found and confiscated in Philippine prison cells.
The aforementioned items were seized during the 26th operation of the Bureau of Corrections on Mar. 30 at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.
The luxurious cells in the maximum security compound were demolished and the inmates will be transferred to another cell.

"Ang mahirap kontrolin as of now ay ang maliliit na bagay for example cellphones, sim cards, mga maliliit na sachet ng illegal drugs. Yan yung ating tinitignan ngayon kung papano natin sila mapipigilan na makapasok dito [What is difficult to control, as of now, is the small things like cellphones, sim cards, and small sachet of illegal drugs. That is what we are looking at, on how we can prevent them from entering here]," a BuCor personnel said, according to GMA News.

This is not the first time that the Philippine prison cells showed an embarrassing side with the inmates living comfortably in their “kubols” or cells. These were coined as “condo cells” due to its resemblance to condominium units enabling prisoners to live comfortably. The cells also became a subject of memes.
The “Operation Galugad” started late last year after the Department of Justice Secretary Leila De Lima ordered the demolition of the lavish cells of different gangs inside the prison.
