In the interpellation of Senator Risa Hontiveros’ proposed anti-discrimination bill, Senate Bill 1271 that aims to fight discrimination on the basis of gender identity, Pacquiao said that men dressing as women may pose a danger in public restrooms.

He also cited the case of Jennifer Laude who was killed in Subic, Zambales. "Ano ba gagawin natin diyan na nagdamit babae yung lalaki tapos nabigla yung lalaki na lalaki ka pala, eh pinatay," Pacquiao said.

Hontiveros rebutted that because of Laude’s case, the bill is essential to prevent hate crimes against one’s gender.

Senator Tito Sotto was also in hot water for not supporting the proposed bill. The senator was bashed by a netizen who claimed that it is ironic that the senator does not support the bill, but “Eat Bulaga!” allows some of its talents to cross-dress in some of their segments.
