Senator Manny Pacquiao just learned a lesson thanks to Congresswoman Geraldine Roman during the hearing of a legislative proposal prohibiting discrimination on the basis of gender identity, including a person’s manner of clothing.

The senator said, “Even in the Bible, we can read na ang babae, dapat magsuot na pambabae; at ang lalaki, magsuot ng panlalaki. That’s what I believe.”
The Bataan Representative Geraldine Roman answered, “I respect his religious beliefs, but the basis of our laws is not the Bible. It is the Constitution where the tenet of equality is enshrined.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time that the senator and boxing champ pushes his agenda or stand on issues while quoting the Bible to support these arguments. Pacquiao commented on issues of death penalty and divorce using the Bible.
Rep. Geraldine Roman, on the other hand, was the first transgender lawmaker elected in the Philippines. Thus, she is supportive of the proposal against discrimination.
