Sugar is one of the most essential commodities that we have today. From the coffee that you drink to the bread that you eat, all these have sugar.

You might not however realize the blood and sweat that was poured by sugarcane workers just to ensure that sugar is brought to the table.

This video shared by Kicker Daily shows a child, presumed to be between five to six years old, doing hard labor on the sugarcane field.

The child can be seen cutting the sugarcane and carrying it towards the heap of cut sugarcane, before loading it on the back of trucks for milling.

Known as a sakada, the child in the video is just one among the many children who toil in the fields.

In provinces, this has become a custom, which has not received any action from the social welfare department of the government.

Many netizens reacted to the video saying that she should be in school studying, not performing labor that her fragile body can barely handle.
