After getting into the middle of a controversy when his son Diego Loyzaga slammed him on social media, Cesar Montano has finally broken his silence on the issue.

Last week, Loyzaga accused his father on Instagram of rejecting him since he was a young boy. He also slammed his father for allegedly accusing him of being a drug user.

According to the Manila Bulletin, Montano was hurt by the public statements of his son.

"I am hurt. But all I did was try and protect him like any father would. He has a problem. There is nothing I want more than to be able to help him. I only want what’s best for him. He is my son. I love him,” Montano was quoted by the Manila Bulletin.

The Inquirer also spoke with the actor, who said that he just had a misunderstanding with his son. Montano added that he would never disrespect and denounce his own father in public for whatever reason.

"Even if my late dad never pampered me and didn’t buy me material gifts because we were poor, I am still thankful to him. I never lambasted him for the tough life we had. Our struggles made me learn the value of hard work," the actor told the Inquirer.

Loyzaga – son of Montano with actress Teresa Loyzaga – has already taken down the controversial posts, saying that he was asked to delete them. He has also received support online from his half-sisters, daughters of Sunshine Cruz.
