Nadine Lustre admitted that she was very close to her James Reid’s mother before they officially became a couple.
When asked about it, Nadine answered “Well yeah, kasi she would go sa mga mall shows namin.” (Yes, because she would attend our mall shows.)
This revelation was part of the JaDine Flying High On Love TV special that was released last Saturday, April 23.
She added, however, that her boyfriend’s mother didn’t go all the time – just every once in a while. Maria Aprilyn Marwuinez, or Mommy Ella, was spotted attending the Jadine concert in London last March. She was emotional at finally being able to see and reunite with James after nearly a year of separation – James in the Philippines for his career, and her in Scotland with her new husband.
Nadine also divulged that on the night James declared their relationship to be official, she was on the phone with his mother.
“After the concert [last February 21], after the announcement, she called James. I got to talk to her too. She said congratulations and all that. 'Take care of him. Tell him not to be bad.'”
In an interview with Mommy Ella, the actor’s mother confirmed that she was already a friend of Nadine and her family before JaDine happened.
“She's nice, mabait siya … I've met her family na. Mabait naman yung family niya. Ang wish ko lang sa kanila sana mag-improve pa lalo yung career nila.”
(She’s nice, she’s kind … I’ve already met her family. They are also kind. My wish for them is that they become even more successful in their careers.)
“Be good guys. Be good, James. Be good, Nadine.”
James is full of praise for his mother, and attributes his dancing and singing prowess to her genes.
“I told everyone that my talent came from my mother's side. She was an amazing singer, she was an amazing dancer. So, I think that's where I got my athletic ability.”
In a statement to his mother, he thanked her for coming all the way to London for his show, and wished her happiness for her remarriage in Scotland. He also promised to take some time off his schedule and return to Cavite for some family bonding the next time Mommy Ella decides to visit the Philippines.
