Philippine Army Dragon Boat Team Eyes for Gold

High expectations shadow over the Philippine Army Dragon Boat team as they try to take home another gold medal at the 10th International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF) Club Crew World Championships.

According to CNN Philippines, this would also be the first time that the Army allowed female paddlers to participate in the competition.

The IDBF would be held from April 1-7 in Adelaide, Australia.

In 2014, the Army won two gold medals in the ninth leg of the competition in Italy. As reported in Rappler, the team has been dubbed as the "fastest boat crew in the world" for breaking tournament records in the 200-meter and 500-meter race.

Composed of 24 individuals at their physical prime, they would participate in three categories: Small Boat Division, Men's Open Events, and Mixed Events (2,000m, 500m, and 200m respectively).

The competition could be watched live via this link.
