Prahlad Jani is an Indian Sadhy also known as "Mataji" who was born in Chunriwala Mataji, on August 13 1929 and claims to have lived without food and water since 1940 because he says that the goddess Amba sustains him.
This Indian sadhu who grew up in Charada village left his home when he just seven years to live in the jungle.
At the age of 11, Jani underwent a religious experience and became a follower of the Hindu goddess Amba. From that time, he chose to dress as a female devotee of Amba, wearing a red sari-like garment, jewelry and crimson flowers in his shoulder-length hair. That means he started dressing like a female.
Jani is commonly known as Mataji (a manifestation of The Great Mother) and he believes that the goddess provides him a liquid sustenance or water which drops down through a hole in his palate, allowing him to live without food or drink.
His daily routine is to wake up at 4 in the morning and meditating.
This story shocked even the doctors and they were curious about this case but they still find it hard to believe.
Keri Gans a spokeswoman for the American Dietetic Association and a registered dietician practicing in New York City thinks that Mataji consumed at least some sort of water that kept him alive.
Gans also said that he must be so unhealthy because he is setting himself for nutritional deficiencies because he is not consuming the needed vitamins and minerals.
