Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte boo the chances of ex-DILG Secretary and Liberal Party standard-bearer Mar Roxas of winning the May 9 presidential election pertaining to the previous ratings.
"Kung totoo talaga ang sinasabi mo at naniniwala ang Pilipino sa iyo at dapat ikaw ang presidente, bakit huli ka sa ratings? (If you're telling the truth, that the people believe in you, why is it that the ratings are against you?")
The statement came after an ABS-CBN survey conducted by Pulse Asia showed Duterte enjoying a 12-percentage victory point lead in the presidential race, over Senator Grace Poe.
In the news, this fiery war between the two flamed after Duterte questioned the DILG Secretary claiming that PhilHealth is helping Dabawenyos. As per Duterte, he reiterated that the city of Davao hasn't been receiving any kind of help from PhilHealth in the two-year run.
Duterte adaged, "I do not believe you. You have made so many promises and your term in the government, lahat halos wala kayong naibigay sa tao. Puro kayo daldal, puro announcement, puro lahat. Wala implementation. It is all corruption. (...but you have given nothing yet. Too many words, too many announcement... It is all corruption.)"
Roxas then started challenging the mayor to withdraw from the race if Mar ever proves that PhilHealth has helped thousands of Dabawenyos.
"Mayor Duterte, I dare you, kung may mapakita akong tao, pangalan, ospital na talagang natulungan sa Davao City, ikaw ba ay aatras? (Mayor Duterte, I dare you, if ever I can shoe people's name and list of hospitals in Davao that received help, are you going to back out?"), he asked.
Roxas even added that what matter most is the data and facts. If truth is the basis of the trust of the people, then it is also the basis of a good governance and leadership.
Duterte confidently asked the audience: "The people of the Philippines is listening: is this guy telling the truth?"
The audience then screamed different sentiments. Roxas pointed out that this is Duterte's style: changing the subject every time he is presented with facts.
Roxas said the public could clearly see Duterte's attitude in the debate that he is not the one, and he will not win on May 9 presidential election. He confidently said that the winner will be the decent, and it is him, it is Mar Roxas.
Duterte then retorted: "Susmaryosep." (Jesus, Maria, Joseph! [an exc;lamation of disbelief).
