PNP asks for a ceasefire from AFP in NPA territory

The Philippine National Police confirmed that they asked for the Armed Forces of the Philippines to temporarily stop their offensive strikes in places where the New People's Army rebel group has hidden the five police officers they kidnapped in Davao City.

According to PNP Chief Director General Ricardo Marquez, this is to give way to the freeing of the 5 members of PNP Davao that the rebel group NPA took from Davao.

Also, they gave the handling of the situation to the local crisis management committee in Davao City to find a way in freeing the five policemen.

This follows the video sent by the NPA as a proof of life of the kidnapped members of the PNP.

Even if the relatives of the kidnapped PNP members accepted the validity of the video, it was obvious that the CPP NPA was using the five policemen as a propaganda in order to boost their image to the public.

Following the abduction, the PNP continually reminded their cohorts in the Mindanao region to be vigilant and alert.
