Meet Tippi Degre, the girl who grew up among animals

A 6-year-old girl was recently spotted riding a five-ton elephant known as her ‘brother’ and was raised by a leopard best friend.

Tippi Degre recently made the news when photos from a book, Tippi My Book Of Africa Namibia 1996, reveal her adventures as she spent her days relaxing with cheetahs, zebras and bullfrogs.

The little girl spent so much time interracting with animals such as meerkats.

Tippi was born in Namibia in 1990 to wildlife photographer parents,  Sylvie Robert and Alain Degre.

In Botswana, Tippi became best friends with gentle giant Abu the 34-year-old elephant

Many of the animals were used to human interaction.

The family spent her childhood travelling through Africa and visiting such countries as South Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana.

Tippi with Tkui and another man of the San Bushmen of northern Namibia. Tkui is teaching Tippi to use a bow and arrow.

Most have compared the girl’s upbringing to the boy from The Jungle Book who also grew up with wild best friends.

Tippi has been dubbed the ‘real life Mowgli’, after spending the first ten years of her life growing up in the African bush
