Are Roxas’ answers scripted?

Netizens are engaged in a heated debate of their own when it was observed that during the final presidential debates, a caption to former DILG Secretary Mar Roxas’ answer to a question preceded him actually saying it. There are speculations that the questions were leaked to Roxas, as the netizens compared his eloquent responses to Senator Miriam Santiago’s constant stuttering.

A comment on the blog hypothesizes that the questions, if not given to Roxas beforehand, were asked in a way that gave Roxas and Senator Grace Poe an ample opportunity to defend themselves - while Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s bad jokes were mentioned in the debate, they noted that the illegal use of government resources (Kris Aquino on the chopper) as well as alleged rampant vote buying by Poe’s Party in Baguio were not mentioned by the moderators. The comment concluded by saying that the final presidential debate was “pre-scripted in favor of the Aquino's and Conjuangco's DUMMIES in the form of MARuming POElitika.”

In defense of Roxas and ABS-CBN, a commenter said that Roxas repeated his statement; the caption simply appeared in synch with the second time he said it. Furthermore, he pointed out that Gina Lopez, the managing director of ABS-CBN, is a Duterte fan.

Several other comments pushed their defense for Roxas by providing a transcript, and urging people to research and interact responsibly:

Other netizens defend Roxas by saying that there is a 5 second to 40 minute delay between the actual debate and the airing of the debate, which is a fair amount of time for typists to write out captions.

A netizen also pointed out in a Facebook post that Roxas merely repeated the statement which he gave earlier. The first time Roxas mentioned the controversial statement, there was considerable delay before it was flashed on the screen. The netizen also slammed the detractors of Roxas for seeking discipline but for failing to discipline themselves.
