- Julia and Dennis had a misunderstanding when the former changed her surname from Baldivia (his father's) to Barretto (her mother's)

As reported by PEP.ph, Kapamilya star Julia Barretto and his dad Dennis Padilla are now building a stronger father-daughter relationship.

The 19-year-old actress said she wanted to surprise her father with her character in the movie "Vince & Kath & James".

Julia whose father is a renowned comedian, took a kind of funny role in one of the 2016 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entries.

She shared that she haven't told her dad about it yet.

"No, kasi gusto ko siya i-surprise!" Julia revealed.

(No, because I want to surprise him!)

"Gusto ko makita niya yung finished product, tapos doon na siya magbigay ng comments niya right after," Julia added.

(I want him to see the finished product first,then he could give comments right after that.)

When asked about her current relation with her dad, Julia answered with optimism.

"Everything is so much better than it was before. Baby steps talaga 'yan," she told PEP.ph

"He's still my father at the end of the day, siyempre mahal ko pa rin yung tatay ko (of course, I still love my father)," she went on.
