The advance party of President Rodrigo Duterte headed to Marawi City experienced a temporary setback when an improvised explosive device detonated.
Brig. Gen. Restituto Padilla, spokesperson of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, one of the convoy’s vehicles was damaged due to the blast. This was in accordance to Philippine Star’s report.

The said device was planted on the road, where they also passed.
“Dahil dito may siyam po na nasugatan. Pito sa kanila tiga PSG, [dalawang] escort nilang tropa,” said Padilla.
(Because of this, nine were wounded. Seven were from PSg, and the two are escorts of the troop.)
The President is scheduled to visit the place on November 30.

According to Maj. Filemon Tan, Jr., Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) spokesperson, the members of the PSG and the soldiers were escorting the RTVM.
They were on their way towards the 103rd Infantry Brigade Post when the blast occurred.

They said that the said brigade has been battling the Maute terrorist group.
Although most of the nine sustained slight injuries, there was one who sustained a serious type of injury.
The scheduled November 30 trip will be postponed until it is confirmed that it would be safe.
Soldiering is one tough job. However, these women soldiers are simply fearless!
