Fighters in Syria often find themselves outgunned by their ISIS foes so the soldiers are left to improvise if they want to stand any chance in beating their opponent.

Some of the weapons that the Syrian soldiers use look like contraptions straight out of a Mad Max episode proving the saying “it’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog” true.

To win back their cities and towns from the forces of the Islamic State the Syrians use many inventive and often crude weapons.

In this photo the Syrian soldiers have created a slingshot that seems to serve the role of a mortar.

If you think those weapons are wild prepare yourself from this post-apocalyptic piece of war machinery.

It is basically an old cannon attached to the back of a truck. The truck’s complex hydraulics are used to control the aiming of the cannon and a piece of string tied to the back of the cannon is used to fire it.

The video shows how effective the cannon truck is. The whole truck shook after the shot was fired and the blast of the cannon blew a whole floor of a building to smithereens.
