Drug lord of Eastern Visayas Kerwin Espinosa claimed that Senator Leila De Lima received P8 million drug money through her former driver and boyfriend Ronnie Dayan.

At a senate hearing, Espinosa dropped the bombs aimed at De Lima. He confessed that his first contact with De Lima’s driver-bodyguard Dayan in August 2015 trying to solicit money in exchange of protection for his drug business as De Lima was the Justice Secretary then.
"Noong time na nasa Batangas ako, nagda-diving ako sa Anilao, may tumawag sa akin sa cellphone ko, si [Albuera police chief] Sir Jovie Espenido. Sabi niya sa akin, may gustong kumausap sa akin na driver-bodyguard ni Ma'am Leila de Lima. Tinanong ko si Sir Jovie, ano ba pag-uusapan namin. Sabi sa akin ni Sir Jovie, kayo na lang mag-usap."
"'Pag tapos ng mga tatlong oras, tumawag sa akin na napagkilalang driver-bodyguard daw sya ni Ma'am De Lima... Pinapasabi raw sa akin ni Ma'am Leila na kailangan daw ng pondo para sa 2016 election," he added.
Espinosa then told Dayan that he will consider the offer and consulted his partners, Jeffrey "Jaguar" Diaz, alleged drug trafficker in Cebu province, and convicted crime lord Peter Co, their alleged drug supplier. After a green light from his associates, Espinosa negotiated with De Lima’s driver again.

Espinosa first met De Lima at Burham Park in Baguio. This is where the controversial photo of the two was taken. He added that De Lima received a total of P8 million before 2016 elections to finance her campaign.
Meanwhile, De Lima denied all the allegations, she also claimed that Dayan is compelled to lie by her detractors.
