A 9-year-old boy was rushed to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando, Florida, after being seriously injured after falling three stories from a resort near Walt Disney World.
Although the boy was alert and conscious when emergency responders arrived at the scene, he immediately had to be rushed to the hospital to be checked out.
According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office the boy’s family had been gathering their belongings to head back to Michigan, but the 9-year-old decided to stay behind in the room.
Authorities said that when a family member returned to the room to check on the boy, they heard him scream before he dropped straight to the ground after accidentally plummeting over the balcony.
As protocol, detectives have been notified and are investigating but so far it remains unclear whether or not the child’s parents will face charges for leaving him alone in the hotel room.
