Alice-Ann Meyer was cheking her social media when she got horrified after discovering the pictures of her son Jameson posted by her on her blog back in 2011 were being used for a viral internet joke.
The furious mom said despite Jameson suffers from Pfeiffer syndrome, a rare condition that affects around one in 100,000 births, twisted trolls didn’t hesitate to mock his photos, comparing the little boy to a pug.
Alice-Ann was shocked when she stumbled across the meme, immediately flagging up the photos as harassment and bullying.
In a poignant blog post, she reveals that she’s determined to get all traces of the meme removed from the internet.
She warns: “Do not take my photo to degrade my child… His name is Jameson. He is very real.”
She thanked Twitter and Instagram for removing the content in under 24 hours, but believes Facebook need “to step up” and remove malicious posts more quickly.
Alice-Ann urges people to stand up against cyber bullying and reminds people that the Pfeiffer syndrome mutation could affect anyone, commenting: “to all of you out there that are laughing so hard at my son, know that this in fact could be your child”.
