- Bruno, The chocolate lab went missing in September
- The 7-year-old dog spent a month unable to move and completely deprived of food
- Bruno was found so weak he could hardly move or even open his eyes
After a month of worry, a family in Canada found their beloved missing dog in terrible condition at the bottom of an abandoned well, still alive and breathing.
According to the dog’s owner. Bruno, a chocolate lab, went missing in September, they realized he was gone when they called him for dinner, but he never appeared. His family searched for him, but eventually gave up hope of ever seeing the 7-year-old dog again.
One day while the family was walking through some fields near their home, another of their labs found Bruno in terrible condition at the bottom of an abandoned well, still alive and breathing.
They took Bruno to the veterinarian were Dr. Catherine Colodey, said she wasn’t sure he would survive.
According to Colodey, the poor dog was so weak that he could hardly move or even open his eyes, and was extremely malnourished and underweight “he looked like a skeleton with skin. He was caked in mud and his skin had deep rashes from standing in that murky, wet environment for so long.”
During his 27 days in the well the only source of hydration Bruno had was from snow that collected at the bottom and according to Colodey it was what ultimately kept him alive.
Colodey and her team of vets dedicated an entire weekend to treating Bruno and now he defied all odds, and recovered slowly but steadily.
