- CPP leaders condemned the burial of Marcos at the LNMB
- Leaders said that Marcos proved himself as a “rotten trapo”
- He added that the act of burying the dictator was a resurrection of the Marcoses
Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) leaders lashed out against Duterte for burying the dictator Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng Mga Bayani.
According to the party’s leaders, President Duterte simply proved himself as a “rotten trapo.” This means that Duterte is a traditional politician who gives more importance to paying political debt and loyalties.
A statement released by the CPP over the weekend clearly decried the said burial.
“In ordering the [Armed Forces of the Philippines] to give Marcos hero’s honors, Duterte is proving himself a rotten trapo who has no qualms working with the worst of the bureaucrat capitalists and gives premium to paying political debt and political loyalties even to the detriment of the people’s aspirations for historical and social justice,” the statement said.
When the Philippine President ordered the honor guards of the military to carry the casket of the dictator who caused so much suffering to the country, Duterte “exhibited gross disrespect and insensitivity.”
The act was an utter disrespect to the thousands of Filipinos who suffered from abuses such as torture, during the Marcos regime.
Aside from this, the group also added that such act is tantamount to a reversal of the judgment of the Filipinos against the dictatorship.
It is also a resurrection of the Marcoses.
Many Filipinos condemned the burial of Marcos at the Heroes' Cemetery. In Kenya, many also condemned scandals involving a range of their celebrities.
