Suspected drug lord Kerwin Espinosa, upon his return to the country, pleads President Rodrigo Duterte for forgiveness during a press conference held on Friday, November 18.
"Wala na akong takot sa mga pulis. Mula doon sa pagsundo nila sa akin dun sa Abu Dhabi, na-feel ko 'yung safety ko," Kerwin said.
(I no longer have fear of the police. From the time they picked me up in Abu Dhabi, I have already felt my safety [is guaranteed].)
The son of the slain Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr. is asking the president for a chance to turn his life around.
In his statement, Kerwin said, "Ang hiling ko lang sa ating presidente ay humihingi ako ng tawad kung ano man 'yung nagawa ko dati at sana bigyan n'ya ako ng pagkakataon na magbagong buhay."
(I call upon our president to ask for forgiveness for what I have done before and 9tell him that) I hope that he would give me a chance to begin a new life.)
He also promised a tell-all, now that his dad, Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr. is gone.
"Itong sitwasyon ko ngayon, na wala na yung papa ko, maaasahan n'ya lahat ng mga involved sa drug trade na nalalaman ko, lalabas silang lahat ang mga pangalan," he promised.
After everything that has happened to him and his family, it seems Kerwin Espinosa has found his refuge in President Rodrigo Duterte, just as this child did in this social worker who cared for him.
